Hi.
I'm having a Selmer Grand Bouche (D-Hole) built for
me and I'm looking for a source of spalted maple for
use as rosette material OR anything that looks
equally striking/nice against a cedar top.
Can anyone help out??

Ok... since you brought it up.... I am also looking for plates for carved topped LPs. They need to be roughly 3/4" - 1" thick, 7" - 7.5" wide, and long enough for a LP... I am looking for the stuff that will bug your eyes out. I don't care if it is punky or not. I found some w/ Larry Davis, but it is always good to know of other sources too.... |

I know that at one point Don (NewEnglandToneWoods) had some incredible spalted maple, 'cause I have it on my shelf for an upcoming project ;-) You might shoot Don an email if Bob doesn't have what you're looking for. |

Hey guys, I've got a ton of spalted maple. Most of it sucks though. Really punky and full of worm holes. But if you aren't in a hurry, I can dig through what I've got and see if anything is worthwhile. Lemme know. |

I have been successful at spaulting my own maple and sycamore. Just cut the logs, split in half, seal the ends, and lay them on the ground over the summer sometimes up to 1 year. I check one every once in a while, and have found some really neat stuff. Cutting one open is always a surprise. Sometimes good, sometimes notso good. When you find something that looks good cut it into billets, and let it dry. Poplar also spaults nicely, as well as Pecan. I always start with fresh summer cut logs that contain the maximum amount of natural sap. Al |

I have some nice spalted maple as well as spalted maple burl. Brock I may have some to suit your needs too. |
